Are you very involved with FAOS? Are you impressed with what we do? Do you think that our role in Frome society is important?

The Frome Amateur Operatic Society is a fundamental part of Frome. In existence for over one hundred years, it has provided entertainment over the years for tens of thousands of Frome citizens and indeed further afield. It has been a centre that has allowed thousands of amateur stage artists to perform. Many, many children have found it a wonderful way of learning and having fun. Some have even gone on to careers in entertainment. There have been lots of people and families to whom FAOS has been an important part of their lives.

Because of the importance of FAOS to Frome in particular, we continually receive financial donations from people who recognise our work. Occasionally we are the beneficiaries of bequests when people die and leave us sums of money, sometimes substantial sums, in their wills. In 2008 we received an endowment of over £50,000 from a grateful supporter.

FAOS is a non-profit making organisation. We carry enough current money to ensure that we are able to sustain the ups and downs of the economy, but otherwise all money is re-invested in the Frome Memorial Theatre. If we build up unnecessary funds, excess money is donated to the Theatre and some of its equipment is a result of FAOS investments. We never just hoard money.

If you would like to make a donation to FAOS, please complete the form below. £10 for example would pay for the sweets that the Dame scatters to the kiddies in the audience during the annual pantomime. A bequest to FAOS in your will would be used within the Society or the Theatre and always in line with your instructions. Some years ago a bequest of several thousands of pounds was given to support the training of children and it is still being spent that way. The recent large donation will be spent on a storage annex to the Theatre for FAOS props and costumes.
