Off Stage Involvement
There are more people off stage than on. There are often over 60 people surrounding the cast. Like the actors, the one big thing you must have to help is commitment. A successful show relies just as much on volunteers who say they will help in a certain way and it can be very damaging if suddenly someone doesn’t do something they said they would.
The one big difference for off stage people however is that the level of commitment can vary from not a lot, to a great deal, and you should chose something that suits what you can achieve.
Here are some examples.
Involved 1 Year before a show – Director, Musical Director, Choreographer, Production Manager.
Involved 4 months before a show – Stage manager, Wardrobe Mistress, Props Master, Prompt, Props & Ancillary Scenery Makers, Seamstresses.
Involved 2 months before a show – DSM, Understage Manager, Lighting Design, Sound Design, Effects Design, Props Crew.
Involved 1 month before a show – Stage crew, Lighting Operations, Sound Operations.
Involved 1 week before a show – Hairdressing crew, Make-up artists, Dressers, Helpers for the get-in, lights rigging, etc.
On this website is information about forthcoming shows with dates. For each show, the team leader positions are given. Anything blank is as yet unallocated. If you have relevant experience (you don’t need qualifications) you could apply for one of these. If not, why not start by being part of one of the crews? For further information and details of how you can help please email us. We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to our Society.
